The Painted bunting is in the cardinal family. The male plumage is red, and blue with a green back and red rump.

Habitat:

Spotted perched in a tree at the Peveto Woods Bird and Butterfly Sanctuary in southern Louisiana. A mix of riparian thickets and forest.
