Ladoffa sannionis
I shot this leaf hopper on a rusted steel tube next to a street light at night. It measures no more than 1/4" long
Tropical dry forest in NW Costa Rica six weeks into the six month dry season.
Thanks Karen. I shot this at night so focusing was a tad difficult. He took off with the first flash and I didn't have an opportunity for another shot. I hope that he/she will be hanging around that street light again soon.
Thanks Bayucca! I so appreciate your efforts. When you get to CR let me know...I, at least, owe you a dinner!! Shot of the day - doubtful! This shot only serves to identify this species exists here. At best it is an out of focus photo.
You got the shot of the day, now you got the exaggeration of the day ;-)... Thanks for the nice compliment and I appreciated if somebody appreciates my efforts for looking for an ID.
These little beauties are terrible to ID. What do you think about my suggestion? I am pretty sure it is a Ladoffa sp.
Please consider adding this amazing Leafhopper to The Hoppers mission. You can find it under Global. Thanks!
