Perilla frutescens
This plant is an introduced species from the mint family found mainly in the eastern half of North America. The stem is very hairy and red. Leaves are broad, serrated and hairless on top. Small pinkish flowers are produced from a central stem. The plant tends to grow in disturbed areas. It is considered invasive in some areas. The plant is edible and is used extensively in Asia.
