Anhinga anhinga
The Anhinga (Anhinga anhinga), sometimes called Snakebird, Darter, American Darter, or Water Turkey, is a water bird of the warmer parts of the Americas. The word anhinga comes from the Brazilian Tupi language and means devil bird or snake bird.

Hi Pam, it seems that all your bird spottings are still in Ismaels' mission "El mini-mundo de Costa Rica" which is for arthropods
The pointed bill and colored tip of the tail give this away as being an Anhinga. A cormorant would have a rounded tip to the bill.
Nice photo of breeding plumage. Our similar double crested cormorants breed in colonies with great egrets(Ardea alba) and make the oddest - think Jurrassic Park- call during rookery season. Did these guys make any noise?
Thanks Pam! I have just added an English translation to the mission's instructions.
Thanks Daniele, I didn't know that. I removed all my bird spottings. Do you think it would be possible to put an English translation in the mission details under Ismael's Spanish explanation?
