Description:

American Painted Lady. It was alive but it was upside down maybe affected by the storm the night before. It is most easily distinguishable by its two large eyespots on the ventral side

Habitat:

Flowering plants in a grassland area in an arid place.

Luis, the Painted Lady is Vanessa cardui. Yours is the American Painted Lady or the American Lady. Personally I prefer the American Painted Lady.
