Description:

Gorgeous but small purple, white and yellow flower. It stood about 3cm tall on a single spike that comes from a small, low-growing plant. Third image shows flower bud. This is a native perennial herb and is only found slightly beyond the borders. The white variety can be seen at: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/182...

This was an introduction for me. There were to in the middle of a grassy hillside just flirting for attention :) I'm glad you appreciate them!

called "Sailor's Caps".....they look a lot like your flower (especially the bottom section). And, they are native to California....Still not 100% sure yet! What do you think?!?

Well....I deleted it....because I am not so sure!! I thought it was a shooting star....but now I don't know!!
