A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
It was small in size, probably about an inch or an inch and a half tall. It looked like a caterpillar was on the bottom and it had taken leaves and stuck them together with something that looked like a spiderweb white stuff. Then when it got frightened it would love so the leaves would be covering him completeley and it was just a triangle of leaves.
I found him on the wall of our carport which has two large oak trees right next to it.
Thanks for the suggestions! It was very helpful :) and you guys are right on the architecture thing!

I don't know how much chance there is of getting closer to the genus or species. Someone more expert in Lepidoptera may know if they have a tendancy towards certain materials. I imagine the food plant is first port of call so, perhaps the leaves themselves could be a good clue if you can recognise them from a plant in your yard. Anyways, truly great spotting-always gratifying to see the astonishing in what's right under your nose :) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bagworm_mot...
Please consider putting this lovely spotting in the Animal Architecture mission at http://www.projectnoah.org/missions/8082...
