Whitebanded Crab Spider

Misumenoides formosipes

Description:

Large white spider (can also be yellow, as in the last picture) with purple markings on its abdomen. Has a ridge on its face, separating some of its eyes.

Habitat:

Field edge, common on boneset, goldenrod, and other flowers.

Notes:

An ambush predator, very similar to three other species of spiders. See BugGuide for more information. Found at Barbara A. Beiser Field Station.
