Orb Spider

Araneus ssp.

Description:

Small bulbous spider generally less than an inch in length. This genus contains numerous species and subspecies. Members of this genus are harmless to humans.

Habitat:

Commonly found throughout the state. If there are multiple surfaces within a couple of feet of one another outside, an orb spider will build a web between them!

Notes:

These spiders are prolific web-builders, and may spin multiple geometric webs in a single night.
