European Paper Wasp

Polistes dominula

Bee or wasp that setup a home in a garden lantern in my outdoor home garden. He lived there all summer. He appeared to live alone and without any friends.

His habitat was this lantern made of metal and generally in a sunny location but well ventilated. This was placed near many types of flowers and flowering bushes.
