Giant Stonefly

Pteronarcyidae

Description:

A yellow specimen with black wings and legs, about 30mm in size and big anthems.

Habitat:

Spotted during a raining morning walk at Kebun Raya Cibodas, a 80ha area above 1.400 metres high, mix of botanical park with big trees & palms and surrounded by a rainforest at the foot of Gene volcano, Java - Indonesia.

Notes:

The Pteronarcyidae are also known as giant stoneflies or salmonflies. Kingdom: Animalia Phylum: Arthropoda Class: Insecta Infraclass: Neoptera Order: Plecoptera Suborder: Systellognatha Family: Pteronarcyidae
