Ruby-Throated Hummingbird

Archilochus colubris

Habitat:

Backyard at feeder

Notes:

Rarely do we get hummingbirds, but my wife keeps trying. This week we have had two females at our feeders, so I spent about an hour and a half trying to get good shots with a flash. It was too dark for high shutter speeds, and my camera only goes up to 250 with the flash on, but I was happy with the turnout. They are gorgeous little creatures and we have enjoyed watching them greatly!

Thanks kd! The "artistic" part came out that way by accident because I was shooting in low light at a distance. My flash wasn't quite carrying far enough:) I just couldn't get those wings to freeze!
