Butler's Garter Snake

Thamnophis butleri

Description:

Garter snake hatchlings (2 heads in photo) at one day old.

Habitat:

Woods and covered, grassy areas. In this photo specifically a tank before release.

Notes:

I taught Environmental Ed at a summer camp. I caught their mom to show to campers and apparently took care of her well enough to see 24 hatchlings in early august. They were all released shortly after, even mom.
