Danaus Plexippus
Some monarch butterflies. I am unsure of the name of the flower, but will try to find that out once they return in the spring.
Blithewood Gardens, part of Bard College Campus. Right near an estuary of the Hudson River in New York.
The day was very overcast, and the monarchs were buffeted by the wind so badly I was surprised they could keep clinging to their flowers at times! The front monarch is a male.

Beautiful series! Would make great addition to Monarch Migration Mission!
I definitely see that! That is a little detail that I wouldn't have noticed without her help!
River,Karen is very knowledgeable!
Thank you Marta! And thank you Karen for pointing that out, I never knew that before!
Very pretty! It's a male as it has the the spot of the lower wing that is the gland that releases pheromones to attract a female.
Awesome!
