Growing right up out of the lava flows on Fernandina Island in the Galapagos.
They were huge. In some places, the barrels of the cacti were thicker than my arm. It was incredible to see them there poking out of the lava.
Very good photos. This must be an amazingly tough cactus. They look great in big patches.
