Megarhyssa greenei
Patterned in orange and yellow. This species can be told apart from other Megarhyssa species by its forewing pigmentation. The females have forewings that are clear along the basal vein.
Forest
Though it has an intimidating ovipositor, this wasp is harmless to humans. The female uses its long ovipositor to drill holes in dead wood. It then lays its eggs in the wood and parasitizes another wasp species. Found at Barbara A. Beiser Field Station.
