Mule Deer

Odocoileus hemionus

Description:

I wasn't sure whether these were whitetail or mule deer (both occur in SD), but as the website I found describes mule deer as having a conspicuous white rump and a black tail tip, I think they are that species. Plus the very large ears.. One female and one fawn together, grazing.

Habitat:

somewhere near Custer State Park, winding up into the hills.
