Leaves appear in the spring, then die and the plant appears to be gone until midsummer. It appears out of the ground, buds, blooms and then dies within a week.
Urban lawn
These popped up all over town late last summer—with no leaves and the way they grow so fast, they seemed more like mushrooms than flowers!
