Blue and Yellow Morpho

Description:

Large butterfly about 14 cm wing span. According to the light the blue of this incomparable insect shows a more violet or more greenish gloss and the delicate white band a yellowish tone . Eggs: hemispherical, light green with a row of vertical red lines enclosing the widest part of the egg. Larva in the first stage: capsule of the head with many red hairs. Body yellow, with red lines on the back and sides, as it grows, the Capsule head with short gray and brown hairs. Body with two large yellow ovals on the back, with fine red and gray lines with opaque brown tints on the sides and between the ovals. Pupa: ovoid, light green color. Head slightly forked, with little specks gold in the spiracles. In the thorax a long white stain. As they fly hight in the canopy level , this is a hard insect to photograph
