Viola orphanidis

Description:

Melanium Violet from the Balkan Peninsula. A softly-hairy, many-stemmed perennial (20-70 cm.). Flowers violet usually about 1 cm long with yellow eye and side petals upturned. Leaves (2-4 cm) ovate to rounded, toothed, hairy mainly along the veins and margin.

Habitat:

Deciduous woodland margin.

Notes:

Distribution: Albania, SW Bulgaria, Greece, Former Yugoslavia.
