Description:

Long, slender, black fungi that appears to be aged. I thought they looked similar to Xylaria sp., but I could be completely wrong here! Any ID help is much appreciated!

Habitat:

growing in a group at the base of an oak (in mulch) in a dense mixed hardwood (spotted with pines) forest in Northwest Georgia (Gordon County), US.
