Green Sea Turtle

Chelonia mydas

Description:

Green turtles are, like all other sea turtle species, endangered. This one got a bit curious before snacking on some fish trapped in a fishing net. Although it did get itself a bit tangled - it managed to escape - not a fate granted to most turtles that come across a net.

Thanks! I was worried, but it got free, swam away happily eating more fish!

Kerrigan - they have a pretty global distribution so it's very likely!

Beautiful first picture! I hate what happens with the fishing nets. Glad to hear he had a safe escape this time.

Hi Randy, when you upload a spotting on the website, there's space for various useful links on the bottom right of the page, on the iPhone it's at the bottom of the new spotting page.
