Red Flowering gum

Corymbia ficifolia

Description:

This eucalyptus tree had red seed pods,red flowers and it's young leaves and branches were tinged with red. It was not a fragrant tree. Bark was black and non peeling. Interested in knowing the species.

Habitat:

Not a native of California. Brought into California during the Gold rush . California eucalyptus is plagued by the Long Horn beetles. These tree do not support the local wild life . Oak is the predominant species supporting a lot of wild life.
