Luzon Sea Star

Echinaster luzonicus

Description:

Also known as Luzon Starfish, Orange Sea Star, Orange Starfish, Orange Luzon Sea Star and Orange Luzon Starfish. Their color varies from place to place (see my previous spotting: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/848... ) They feed on molluscs, worms and detritus, and grow to a length of about 15cm.

Habitat:

Found singly or in groups in shallow lagoons and bays on sand and rubble areas, at depths of 2 to 15m. Widespread in the West Pacific.

Notes:

I spotted this sea star at a depth of about 40 feet.
