Echinaster luzonicus
Also known as Luzon Starfish, Orange Sea Star, Orange Starfish, Orange Luzon Sea Star and Orange Luzon Starfish. Their color varies from place to place (see my previous spotting: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/848... ) They feed on molluscs, worms and detritus, and grow to a length of about 15cm.
Found singly or in groups in shallow lagoons and bays on sand and rubble areas, at depths of 2 to 15m. Widespread in the West Pacific.
I spotted this sea star at a depth of about 40 feet.
