Pomacea insularum
Extremely large snail
Freshwater
This is a picture of an Island Applesnail egg mass in the Florida Everglades (WCA-3). This exotic species may be out-competing the native Florida Applesnail (Pomacea paludosa), which is the main prey item of the threatened Everglades Snail-Kite.

Great capture!
They are neat birds! I saw a few of them last year when I worked as a research assistant in the Everglades. Their outlook is pretty grim though.
Jason, I saw a picture of a snail kite today. But they would not disclose the location. Maybe because it is endangered.
