Golden Mantella Frog

Description:

Bright golden yellow in colour...a warning to potential predators.

Habitat:

Captive at Tropical World, Leeds.

Notes:

It is listed as ‘Critically Endangered’ on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species. This species has a very restricted distribution in high altitude swamps of east-central Madagascar. Quite a few zoos have captive specimens which could serve as a gene pool should something happen to the population in the wild.
