Callistemon seed capsules

Callistemon sp

Description:

The flower heads of these plants end up looking like a cluster of small brown peas along the stem. They are three-celled seed capsules that hold the seeds until dispersal. The capsules remain attached to the branch ( pic # 3) which might continue to grow past the clumps of flowers, to produce more leaves. In pics # 1 and #2 the seed capsules have stayed attached to the branch despite its widening girth and the rough bark formation !

Habitat:

Nature reserve

Notes:

This is one of the most unusual sights I've ever seen. Most people know what callistemon flower heads look like, but the seed capsules still stuck to a fairly large trunk with stringy bark was strange - almost weird !! I research this further and add a web link, if appropriate.

That is a neat spotting. I'll bet the pretty flower never imagined it would be a thick branch when it grew up.
