California Slender Salamander

Batrachoseps attenuatus

A very small salamander that seems to have lost its tail at some point. This one was found mostly buried under pine needles in about 55 degree weather.

Pristine Coastal Redwood forest.

The first salamander I'd ever seen in the wild.
