Goldfinches still retain some yellowish color in winter plumage, though they are mostly olive. They never show the conspicuous streaking of this bird. Pine Siskins look a lot like other finches (House, Purple), but can be easily distinguished by their sharp bill and yellow-edged primaries and coverts. Looks like this bird has a slightly deformed bill.
That may be right, but if you look at the pictures, none of the goldfinches in winter plumage have a bright yellow spot in the middle.

I agree Goldfinch, they can also consume a remarkable amount of Niger Seed in a day!
I'd have to agree with jgorneau.... Goldfinches never change colors from summer to winter
