Acorns

Quercus

Description:

These are acorns in December, wearing their caps and they look all sort of set for the winter! I found them in Ramgarh, which is in the foothills of the Himalayas (Uttaranchal, India) at about 6500 ft.

Habitat:

Forested hills

Notes:

Ramgarh is still beautiful, tree covered, lots of oak trees (hence the acorns!), many birds, butterflies and local hill cows, monkeys, dogs and chickens. Apparently there are 600 species of Quircus (Oak).
