Gulf Fritillary

Agraulis vanillae

Description:

This butterfly was small and those white/silvery spots on its wings were like mirrors. I don't have any pictures of it with its wings open.

Definitely Agraulis vanillae. #2 shows clearly the white spots on the forewing, which are only present in Vanillae. Moneta has there black patches.

Doesn't show the pattern on the hindwing like the Mexican Silverspot does. The Gulf Fritillary is one of the most abundant butterflies in the southeast.
