In the third photo the little blue is joined by a tri-colored heron, Egretta tricolor.
Thanks, annorion. It was late afternoon and he was just inside of the shadow of the river bank. The tri-colorwas an unexpected bonus.
Beautiful series! Like the silvery gray look of the water in the first two and the third is a really awesome comparison of two similarly looking birds!
