Ovis canadensis
Bighorns are named for the rams' large, curling horns. They are brownish tan with a tan/white rump. The males may weigh up to 143 kg (300 pounds). Ewes are considerably smaller and while having horns as well, their horns are shorter, more slender, and tend not to curve as much.
High rocky cliffs and alpine meadows.
This particular photo was taken many years ago in Montana's National Bison Range and was recently scanned from a 35mm slide. It was raining lightly but I spent several hours photographing these beautiful animals. That night back at the hotel, I opened up the camera only to find water in the film compartment. I took the lens off and opened the back and put it in the apartment's oven and turned the oven on its lowest setting while leaving the door open. Several hours later the camera was dry and was once again working. Not sure if you could do that with today's electronic cameras....grin.

Beautiful upload Gordon!
i faced a similar problem when i visited the valley of flowers last august,
it was raining there and i had only one day in the valley, took the risk to click in the rains and the next day morning my cam stopped working. had to continue the rest of the trip on my small cam . Got back home and used a hair dryer on the slowest setting and finally got it working!!!
