Katydid Nymph

Description:

This insect is about 1/2" long. It reminds me of a stilt leg bug. It was resting on a fallen Poroporo (the buttercup tree) flower.

Habitat:

Tropical dry forest in NW Costa Rica half way through the 6 month dry season.

I checked into the Ensiferas. It sure could be. I have a spotting of a grasshopper that has similar colors and different patterns. They could be in the same family. This one very well could have been eating the Poroporo flower that had fallen to the ground.

I agree it looks like some sort of katydid nymph.

It's not a bug. It is a nymph of some kind in the Suborder Ensifera. That is some kind of baby Cricket (prob. Tree cricket), Katydid, or relative.
