Its wingspan is 2.2 cm. on average there are smaller specimens measuring up to 1.8 cm and not more than 2.4 cm in males.


This butterfly is associated with Tropical forests perenni and subperennifolios and cloud forest, mainly from 500 to 1300 meters; flies open and closed spaces, often in the wet sand of the beaches of streams and rivers.

It is a beautiful Butterfly. Fantastic spotting, EduardoAxelRecillasBautista.
It will ever be in my fondest memories the day I spotted a Rhetus arcius, a couple of years ago.
