Swollen Finger Sponge

Description:

Also known as Finger Sponge, this marine creature feeds on plankton, and grows to about 20cm in length. Color vary.

Habitat:

Found on coral and rocky reefs on slopes and dropoffs, at depths of 10 to 20m. Widespread in the Indo-Pacific region.

Notes:

Spotted this at an as-yet unnamed dive site, off the western coast of Samal Island, Davao, Philippines. It was at about 60 feet depth.
