A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Carduelis tristis
This is the american goldfinch in its non-breeding (winter) plumage. They stay here year round and in winter we get huge flocks of 40 - 50 birds at the feeders. In winter, males and females look pretty much the same although some males keep more yellow than others. These birds were feeding on begamot seed heads.
