Trumpeter Swan

Description:

Large white bird about 5 ft. in length, with a wingspan of 7 ft. Adults have black bills and feet.

Habitat:

Spotted near Tamarac Headquarters. Trumpeter Swan like ponds and lakes with beds of cattails, bullrush, and sedges.

Notes:

Many Trumpeter Swans fly to the open water on the Mississippi River near Monticello over winter.
