Flavoparmelia Caperata
Here at Massabesic Middle school, our goal is to identify everything on campus. One day my team and I went outside to identify some lichen. It was a cold and windy day, it was 0 degrees Celsius, and wind speed was it was 45 kilometers per hour We found a 2 lichen , I believe the one I was assigned to is FLAVOPARMELIA Caperata. I believe this is it because it looked hard, and crusty. It was also yellowish, and Greenish mixed together. I found it on a tree. Kingdom: Fungi/Plante Division: Ascomycota class: Ascomycetes Order: Lecanorales Family: Parmelicaceae Genus: Flavoparmelia Species: Flavoparmelia

I liked how you described your lichen. You could add a website that you used to identify the lichen. Do you have any pictures more the better? I really liked how you included the phylum.
Nice spot & good info mmsbiodiversity31!
Lichen is a very interesting organism as it is actually a symbiosis (an interdependent relationship) between an algae & a fungus. You also consider adding this spotting to the Symbiotic Relationships mission.
