Platycercus elegans elegans
The crimson rosella (Platycercus elegans) is a parrot native to eastern and south eastern Australia. An incredibly bright red and blue parrot with a jarring screeching voice! Often seen nectaring at Banksia and other native trees.
Commonly found in, but not restricted to, mountain forests and gardens. This one was seen in a tree beside a road in mountainous sub-tropical rainforest.
