Description:

Female rufous hummingbirds are green with rust on the back of the tail, and around the edge of the breast, and often have a red spot on the throat. Juveniles look like females. The male by contrast covered in a dazzling rust color with a red gorget

Notes:

IN a small number of areas, including mine, rufus and allens hybridize, so absolute identification is not 100%
