Perhaps about 6-8" across. Scientific name corrected following Laura's comments.

I change it to your suggestion Laura, the size matches exactly, added the EOI link and switched the pictures around, they would not change before.
What a really cool find! I think based on the more "random" texture, it might be Echinaster sepositus, Ophidiaster has more of uniform texture (the lines are arranged in rows). Stunning colour, such a cool thing to come across!
