Reticulated Python

Python reticulatus

Description:

Essentially terrestrial but a good climber, as seen here in a tree. A powerful constrictor, it will feed on any animal it can overpower from mice to deer and pigs. Large adults can be dangerous to humans.

Habitat:

tropical rainforest

Notes:

My first reticulated python! I spotted this snake in a tree above the river while cruising in Ujung Kulon national park. Unfortunately, it was all tucked up and couldn't get a clear head shot.
