Description:

Each clump was about 10cm across, growing on hawthorn. The main trunk that the fungus was growing on appeared to be dead but there were shoots nearer the base that had leaves and berries on.

I've taken a similar picture today, and my ID search ended in: Auricularia auricula-judae. Is that a possibility for yours?
