Ornithoctoninae
The Earth Tiger Tarantula is a very rare and beautiful Asian tarantula. They grow to a fairly large size. The Earth Tiger Tarantula is a fast and can be quite aggressive.
It thrives in the tropical rain forests of Asia, where it builds and lives in burrows up to several feet deep, emerging to capture food. The spider preys on numerous small insects and other creatures, such as cockroaches, crickets, and mice.
Yes it got frightened. When you look at the third picture you can see how I first met the tarantula sitting in our laboratory. I thought it was only the skin that was left after the casting of the skin. When I tried to turn it over with a stick it wasn't too happy as you can see...
Lauren,I just read an article about this posture. It is a defensive posture in which the Tarantula raises it's legs. like it is saying " i am too big too capture"
Amazing legs and even more amazing fangs! Is it attacking you? Threatening you?
