Kingdom- Fungi Division- Ascomycota Class- Lecanoromycetes Order- Lecanorales Family- Cladoniaceae Genus- Cladonia Species- cladonia cristatella Based on the characteristics, I think this lichen is British Soldier. This lichen has a small greenish- yellow stem with a small red ball on top. I found the tiny patch of lichen on a piece of wood that had fallen down and that was covered in snow. The wood that the lichen was on, I found about half way in the woods. The patch of british soldier was 1 cm (10 mm) big. Longitude- -70.698932º Latitude- 43.582458º Wind speed- 32.18688 kilometers per hour Temperature- 0º Celsius How much snow there was- 7.62 centimeters of snow
