Downy Woodpecker

Description:

The downy woodpecker is predominately black and white. Males have a red patch on the back of the head (female shown). The head is adorned by a black eye stripe and black cap. The back and belly is white and the wings are black with white spots.

Habitat:

Conifer, deciduous and mixed forests.
