Description:

Small finch with conical bill. Males in spring and early summer are bright yellow with black foreheads and black & white wings. Males in winter are drab, unstreaked brown with black wings and 2 pale wing bars.

Habitat:

Roadsides, orchards and backyards.

Notes:

These are males in winter plumage.
