Rudman's Phyllidiella

Phyllidiella rudmani

Description:

White mantle with two black, longitudinal lines near the margins. Black rhinophores with white bases. White pustules covering the entire mantle. They feed on hydroids, coral, sponges and sea anemones, and grow to about 4.5cm in length. Also known as Phyllidiillae Rudman, Rudman Sea Slug, Rudman Nudibranch, Rudmani Nudibranch and Rudmani Sea Slug.

Habitat:

Found singly or in pairs in coral and rocky reefs among sand and rubble areas, at depths of 5 to 30m. Widespread in the Indo-Pacific region.

Notes:

Spotted this nudibranch at a depth of about 70 feet. It was on a reef wall. At first glance I thought it was Phyllidiopsis shireenae, but it didn't quite fit the profile. It was about an inch long.
