Plus my bird doesn't seem to have a band across its eye.

Hey Liam, thank you! I considered Australian Reed-Warbler for the ID too, but I'm just not sure... I can't find a pic where the colours look similar. My bird is more grey on the back, all the reed-warbler pics look brown. What do you think?

I could be wrong, but Australian Reed-warbler looks like a good match.
